Physiotherapy, also knowns as physio, is a type of healthcare that focuses on helping people recover from injuries, disabilities, and illnesses that affect their ability to move and function properly.
We use a range of techniques to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide variety of conditions. This may include manual therapy, manipulation, acupuncture, and exercise prescription such as stretches and pilates.
Our goal as physiotherapists is to improve a person's mobility, strength, flexibility, and overall quality of life. Physiotherapy can be used to treat a range of conditions such as back pain, sport injuries, tendon strains, headaches, arthritis and pregnancy pain and discomfort.
Overall, physiotherapy helps people to regain their independence and improve their ability to perform daily activities.
No, you do not need a referral to come to physio, you can book with us directly and we will lodge your claim with ACC. We are also able to refer for x-rays and ultrasounds.
We are able to utilise our network of specialists and orthopaedic surgeons for further investigations if required.
Your first appointment will include a consultation to discuss your injury with your therapist, and a treatment. Please allow 45 minutes for an initial appointment and 30 minutes for follow up appointments.
Your therapist will discuss with you a plan for managing your injury including how frequently you may need to come to physio and for how long. This will be different for everyone and depend on the needs for your injury.
Your physio can also refer you for imaging such as an x-ray or ultrasound or prescribe an exercise programme tailored to your needs. We are able to utilise our network of specialists and orthopaedic surgeons for further investigations if required.
Yes, we have plenty of off-street parking in front of the clinic. We also have disabled parking a short walk from the front door.
ACC covers injuries that are the result of an accident and you can register an ACC claim with us. We will email you this paperwork to complete before your appointment. ACC pays a portion of the costs and there is a co-payment that you will need to pay at your appointment.
Please bring any documentation relating to your injury or ACC claim number if you have already been to a GP, A&E, radiology, specialist etc.
It is recommended you wear comfortable clothing to your appointment, such as t-shirts or singlets and shorts for leg and foot injuries. You can get changed in privacy before or during your appointment and we have air conditioned rooms to keep you comfortable.
We are a family friendly clinic and are happy for you to bring a support person with you.
If your Southern Cross health insurance policy covers Physiotherapy we can submit a claim on your behalf at the time of your appointment. This will tell us how much Southern Cross contributes toward the costs of your treatment. We receive payment directly from Southern Cross. If you are unsure if you are covered we can check online at your appointment.
